Driving In India Is Different

Driving is not how to drive; it is how to save yourself and others while driving on an Indian road They say if you can drive in India, you can be sure about all the rules and roads of the world. If you are one of those who took to driving on Indian roads since the very beginning of your driving life you would know that it’s not just about driving and learning how to drive. On Indian roads it’s more about saving yourself from others and saving others while you are jostling on Indian roads. I would tell you something from my own experience. Though the number is decreasing, there are quite a few two-wheeler motorists you would spot any time of the day on the atrociously busy roads of the capital of India.
Imagine this and this happens in actual. A scooterist would come from your left, meandering and negotiating his way through cars and other four wheelers moving bumper to bumper. He would just stick his back bumper close to your car’s front one, matching your speed and carefree too. Now any fault at your end can have him waylaid, come down skidding and car wheels rolling over him. You would have almost done it but for the training you have had. As soon as the two-wheeler guy sticks his butt
with your frontal your left foot jumps to the clutch and the right foot on the brake peddles. You are kind of anxious for a few seconds but then decide to go back to the accelerator after just warning the smart aleck by honking that a small mistake either way could be dangerous. The guy in front too has had his training on the roads you may be claiming to have mastered. There is a tiff, there is a test of wits and the maneuvering at peddles and he zooms past another few vehicles in front of you. He can do better than a trapeze artist; the latter has the safety of the catch-net, whereas he has none. Hence, be it the Bangalore traffic, Delhi traffic, Chennai traffic, or Mumbai traffic, the roadway safety follows the zigzag of a motorist who is out to outsmart others and touches the finish line as the road race winner. Driving in India thus is different.
