College Fundraising By Kimberly Reynolds Looking for college fundraising ideas? Here are ten activity ideas for fraternity, sorority, or other groups to raise funds on campus.
Dance marathon University of North Carolina students conduct an annual dance marathon fundraiser for the UNC Children's Hospital For The Kids Fund which covers costs not covered by insurance. An annual tradition since 1998, the 24-hour Dance Marathon has grown every year, featuring over 750 dancers and 450 volunteers while raising more than $200,000 for their cause in 2006.
Wristband fundraiser Another good way to raise funds is to sell customizable silicon bracelets. These colorful wristbands can be imprinted with your group's message and are surprisingly affordable. Most groups sell theirs for $2 each with profits of 50% or more. The Lance Armstrong Foundation has raised more than $100 million for cancer research with the yellow 'LiveStrong' wristband.
Powder Puff tournament Sororities on many campuses organize an annual Powder Puff tournament with each player required to raise a certain amount in pledges. Fraternities sell game tickets and provide 'cheerleading' squads which is all part of the fun. There's a championship trophy at stake along with prizes for most funds raised and best cheerleaders.
Affinity credit cards These themed credit cards can be offered with just about any group affiliation and custom logo. These require applicants getting approved by the credit card issuer who will pay groups anywhere from $50 to $100 per signup.
Debit cards Similar to the credit card offering, these prepaid Visa or MasterCard debit cards are great for students. You can offer them with affinity customization or just offer regular

Florida and Alabama meet in the SEC Title game with the Gators a 9 ½ point favorite. Florida has played outstanding football over the past several weeks led by their Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow. South Carolina and Florida St are pretty tough defenses and the Gators sliced through both squads winning big. The difference in this game is the Florida speed plus Tim Tebow over the Crimson Tide quarterback John Parker Wilson. Tebow is much better. In big games give me the better QB. Tease Florida 7 points to 2 ½.

Oklahoma and Missouri meet up in the Big 12 title game with the Sooners 17 point favorites. I was very impressed with Sam Bradford at quarterback leading the Sooners to victories over Texas Tech and Oklahoma St by huge margins. Chase Daniels is an outstanding quarterback but the Sooners were able to beat Missouri twice last season and in the Big 12 Title game the Tigers were pounded 38-17 by OU. Oklahoma is just too good right now. Tease Oklahoma 7 points to 10.

Nick Saban's Alabama Crimson Tide enters its upcoming showdown with Florida as the top-ranked team in the AP's Top 25 College Football poll. A win over the Gators Saturday will earn Alabama a berth in the national championship game on Jan. 8. (Nov. 30)

Tim Tebow and Florida is at Florida St with the Gators a 16 ½ point favorite. Florida beat them 45-12 last season so this is a revenge spot for the Seminoles. Next week the Gators play Alabama in the SEC title game so this could be a look ahead spot for the Gators here. One thing I know about betting on Bobby Bowden. Just when you think he has no shot of pulling up an upset he pulls off the upset as a heavy underdog. Bowden hates being the underdog and getting 16 ½ at home makes him pissed off. When Bobby Bowden is a heavy underdog it fires up the old coach. I like that. I dont think Florida St will win but somehow someway Bowden will get us them money playing them on teasers. Tease Florida St 7 points to +23 ½.

South Carolina is at Clemson with the game at a pick. After a poor start Clemson has back to back wins led by their defense which gave up 10 points combined. South Carolinas offense has been inconsistent and is last in the conference on the ground. Its going to be tough to throw against this Clemson defense. The Tigers are happy with their interim coach Dabo Swinney and running back C.J. Spiller said he would return if Swinney returns. Clemson needs to win to get to 7 wins a bowl berth. Tease Clemson 7 points to +7.

Paid surveys There are a lot of companies that pay students to complete online surveys about products and shopping preferences. You can earn $10 to $25 for each survey completed and up to $75 for participating in an online focus group.
Toilet paper Selling one of life's necessities lends itself well to college fundraising. Your group commits to buying a truckload of toilet paper at wholesale prices and then pre-sells at least half of it to other groups. After taking delivery, offer individual packs or even cases at retail prices in high-traffic areas. Use funny posters to help promote your cause. Example: 'Help wipe out hunger!'
Bingo fundraiser Everybody loves to play bingo and it's easy to put a Bingo Night together. All you need is a room with lots of tables and a bingo caller. You can download bingo cards for free and print your own. Make a plastic tumbler for hand painted ping-pong balls for selecting each number and you're good to go. Charge per game and offer donated prizes for winning, not cash.
