What Should An Ideal Computer Interface For Music Applications Do?

To start with, the interface should represent technology that facilitates high-speed data exchange and communication between two computers or between a computer and a peripheral. You should be able to use the interface with virtually every desktop and laptop on the market; if your computer doesn't have one of these interfaces, you should be able to buy a card, at an affordable price.
An ideal computer interface for music applications should have the ability to establish itself as a standard by facilitating transfer of digital video on and off computers. Such an interface, because of its application in music, would also be likely to have an impact on the television industry. A sure test of an established standard in interfaces is to check whether the interface has a dedicated connection included on digital video cameras and other music-centric consumer on the market. Also, the technology should deliver a data transfer rate of at least 400 Mbps.
The interface should also be able to recharge devices connected to a computer, simultaneous with the transfer of data, even if this facility is restricted to some devices.
It should be a peer-to-peer system, thus allowing any device to connect to any other, and devices to be chained, as opposed to a "host-slave" technology. This is likely to contribute to the use of the interface in music applications, paving the way for its
use with or without a computer. Already virtually all high definition cable TV company set-top boxes already utilize ports to accommodate such an interface.
Thus, users should also be able to interconnect various home-networking appliances, using a coax cable, such as HDTVs with set-top boxes, TVs, and computers in various rooms around a home or office, thus enabling the transmission of data over distances of more than 100 meters.
The interface should be able to handle it all, in relation to audio and video. Such technology will definitely enhance life for a business media producer. There will no longer be a need to grapple with five cables to connect your tape deck to an editing system; you should be able to make do, with a single interface cable.
