Simple Methods For Clothing Alterations

The most simple and common method of Cloth Alteration is the hem. Take out the previous hem and push the crease with steam iron. In case of lengthening the piece of clothing and the old fold shows, wipe the fold with the white vinegar and iron it with moist pressing cloth. Now put the cloth on. For the good results, do with a partner to mark new hem. Place in face of a mirror, in good light. Ask the helper to mark the new hem with the pins at the preferred point, keep pins close jointly. To make sure all pins are located properly, calculate from the floor by means of a measure or a kilt marker. Stand straight and twist gradually as assistant marks the fresh hem.
Take out the cloth and keep it on ironing board like in side out. Rotate the material up at the clear hemline and iron it tightly to fold the new hem. Previous to stripping the hem into place, one should stop the edge of the cloth if that is raw. For those fabrics that do not untangle much, stitch it straight along the border of the hem on sewing machine, just keep one forth inch from the edge. For soft woven fabrics, turn the rough edge beneath 1/4 inch and stitch it straight.
For cloths that tangle easily, stitch it straight alone the line, 1/4 inch from the edge. For heavily woven fabrics, finish the hem rim with seam required. Use ribbon and lace directly for hems.

After the hem is correctly netted and finished, Sewing it back for setting. Stitch it with hand, with similar thread. For most outfits, use the hem stitch, work from right to the left side. Take a stitch up from the hem edge and then seize threads in the piece of clothing. For a stronger border in child clothes or joins, use the catch stitch. Close the ends of edge firmly with tiny knots.
